God has blessed me in many ways. First of all He saved me, not only from condemnation, but from myself. He has given me a joy and a peace that I have never known. He has given me life, and an amazing husband, and the best doggie I could ask for and yet I find that while I know this, the true heart of thankfulness escapes me.
I am a physician assistant student currently doing a pediatric neurosurgery rotation at a local children's hospital and I have to tell you. I have a new appreciation for life. For realizing how blessed I am to only need a hearing aid and no other medical devices. The children I see as patients and in the hallways astound me with their wonder and amazement despite their circumstances. They amaze me with their endurance and their willingness to give all they can, despite "ouchies." (whereas I put off getting a flu shot for the longest time because I'm afraid of needles)
These children believe in magic. They show me that a balloon is like gold, and that bandaids should always have fun prints. They teach me how in a moment everything can change and how while I might think life is short, for some of them living to 24 would be a miracle. There are the fun parts of working in pediatrics and then the sad parts, but overall I love it and hope I can find a job in pediatrics.
So here's my list of what I'm thankful for today.
